Christmas and new year in Egypt

Christmas and new year in Egypt

The weather is pleasant in Cairo, Upper Egypt, and the Red Sea around Christmas and New Year. However it's cold on the north coast (Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh), you can't swim.
During two weeks you will have enough time to visit the major highlights in Cairo, Aswan, Abu Simbel, Luxor (including a Nile cruise) and couple of days on the Red Sea.
Neither Christmas nor the New Year are big events in Egypt. The majority of the Christians, who are known as the Copts, celebrate Christmas during the first part of January. On the other hand Christmas and New Year in Beirut, mostly in the Christian areas, is similar to Europe, colourful and bright.
Flights between Cairo and Beirut are very easy (1 hour). You can either chose Egypt Air or MEA - Middle East Airlines. The weather might be colder in Beirut (snow on the moutains).
You can book in Grand Pyramids Hotel
